RESTORATIVE YOGA MODULE (20 HOURS)

Restorative is a style of yoga derived from the foundations of renowned yoga instructor B.K.S. Iyengar. Practitioners achieve both mental and physical relaxation by using various props to support their bodies into yoga postures which are often held for at least 10-20 minutes. The result is deep rest and well being. Restorative yoga is accessible to a substantial variety of age groups and special populations.

Our style of teaching emphasizes simplicity of posture and propping to ensure students remain in deep rest throughout the class. In this 20 hour training, students will be empowered to teach a 75 minute (or longer) restorative yoga class and will also learn how to teach restorative yoga when minimal props are available to them. The intention of the training is to provide a basic foundation of poses and theory, with a focus on functionality and maximizing simplicity and efficiency with poses and sequences.

YIN YOGA MODULE (25 HOURS)

Yin Yoga is an introspective mat-based practice, where poses are held for a longer period and practitioners are invited to go inward to focus on their body, breath, and sensations.

Yin Yoga targets your connective tissue, your tendons, ligaments, joints, and bones. It is considered the counter practice to balance a regular power vinyasa flow or other high energy activities. In this weekend intensive program, you will be empowered to lead a yin yoga practice, for yourself and for others.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
  • Gain the confidence, ability, and practical knowledge to teach a 60, 75 or 90-minute yin yoga class
  • Learn to safely bring students in to and out of yin postures and provide them with adaptations for the poses

ASSISTING INTENSIVE TRAINING MODULE (40 HOURS)

The power of touch can awaken, empower and heal the body and spirit. In this two-weekend intensive training, you will learn practical tools that can be applied immediately to your practice and you will discover how to assist each pose in the PYC Flow sequence.

Mastering the art of assisting is not just a requirement but a cornerstone of delivering impactful and transformative yoga classes. All scheduled teachers across all PYC studios are required to complete the Assisting Level 1 40 hour Module.

We intentionally separated this training from the 200-hour program to give it the focus it deserves, ensuring it is not skimmed over and fully integrated into each teacher’s tool kit.

Building upon the foundational assists and practices from the Assisting Intensive (40 hour module), you learn how to assist from intuition and adaptation.  You will learn how to create possibility through touch, expand your anatomical knowledge, learn how to adapt and assist to any body and any special population while building new confidence that is rooted in self-assurance through intuition.

CHAKRA AND ENERGY MODULE (20 HOURS)

The Chakras have been associated with the practice of yoga and meditation since their beginning. Shrouded in mysticism, they can sometimes be overlooked due to their complexity.

This 20 Hour Training will demystify the chakras; giving you a clearer understanding of these energy centres as a tool for teaching a powerful yoga class. You will learn simple practices to help heal yourself, including those moments when hitting your yoga mat.

KIDS YOGA TRAINING MODULE (25 HOURS)

If you have a passion for kids, this training is for you! This training will empower you to play, to discover and to stand in your fullest self-expression. Inspire the next generation of leaders using the powerful tools and techniques of yoga and meditation. This specialized training is perfect for educators, childcare professionals, parents and anyone passionate about introducing young minds to the world of yoga.

TRAUMA SENSITIVE TRAINING MODULE (20 HOURS)

Trauma is a pervasive fact of modern life and can be experienced in many different ways: automobile or other accidents; sudden loss; surgery; assault; even as a first responder or as military personnel. It does not however, have to be a life sentence. How you handle trauma greatly influences the quality of your life and through this module, you will learn how to use yoga, meditation and breathing techniques to heal you of the past.

FUNDAMENTALS OF AYURVEDA MODULE (20 HOURS)

Transform your health and well-being with Ayurveda! Ayurveda “the health-care system of Yoga”, is the world’s most ancient, comprehensive, and natural preventative mind and body wellness. It is recognized by the World Health Organization.

Join us for a 20-hour workshop that will teach you the fundamentals of Ayurvedic principles and practices. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the three doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – and how they relate to your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. You’ll also discover the importance of healthy digestion, and how to balance your Agni (digestive fire) and eliminate Ama (toxins) from your body.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION TEACHER TRAINING ONLINE MODULE 2024 (100 HOURS)

Mindfulness is the awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

The Mindfulness Meditation 100 Hour Teacher Training is intended to empower participants to confidently lead mindfulness programs and meditation practices.

The program curriculum will cover core subjects including but not limited to the history and philosophy of traditional meditation and modern western mindfulness practice, neuroscience of mindfulness, clinical applications and trauma, cultivating kindness and compassion, mindful practices (other than sitting), and silent retreat. Students will engage in and gain confidence in leading with traditional meditation techniques derived from Buddhist practices in a variety of styles.

While students will need to commit to building a consistent meditation practice in this program please note there will be teaching practicum in each session also.

The training will meet on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 6 pm (as listed below) and also one night per week on Wednesdays at 7 pm (for 6 weeks). Wednesday sessions will be 90 – 120 mins in length. Students must engage in a one-day silent retreat as part of the program, which will be held on one of the scheduled weekends.

Ths training earns 100 hours of Yoga Alliance Continuing Education

Participants should always have a journal and pen at every session. A cushion for meditation is recommended. We will practice in many positions including a chair, laying down, and walking, and all accessibility needs can be accommodated.

SUP YOGA TEACHER TRAINING WITH IZZY SURF YOGA (16 HOURS)

Spend two weekends on the water learning how to teach the Basic SUP Skills as outlined by Paddle Canada.  Create and teach a 1.5 hour SUP Yoga class following the PYC Flow Sequence as well as other practical and fun elements to create an amazing client experience!

After certification you will receive:

  • 16hrs Yoga Alliance Continuing Education credits
  • 16hrs Power Yoga Canada Advanced Modules.
  • Paddle Canada Basic SUP Skills & Rescue.

You should have or be currently enrolled in your 200HR TT or have plans in the near future to attend. It is not advised to be instructing SUP Yoga until this is completed.

PRENATAL YOGA MODULE (20 HOURS)

Become a Prenatal Power Yoga Instructor. Join Tracy Hildebrand who will lead students through an educational weekend where one learns the essence and qualities of prenatal yoga, a 60-minute safe power yoga prenatal sequence, and an informative education on prenatal anatomy and childbirth.

In this specialized Prenatal Instructor Training Course, Power Yoga Canada will be providing prenatal education with a focus on the diastasis recti, pelvic floor, and abdominal toning. Students leave feeling confident and comfortable to handle the sensitivities around a woman’s growing prenatal body and apply their knowledge in leading prenatal classes.
